01-18-11 James Blunt is an English singer and songwriter born in Tidworth England in 1974. James Blunt was raised in a military family. James Blunt soon became a member of the Life Guards unit, where he rose to the rank of captain. James Blunt later decided to leave the army to focus on his music career and signed with Linda Perry, and was sent to Los Angeles to begin his record. James Blunt style is somewhat a mix of pop, rock and folk. James Blunt has amazing vocal skills and plays a variety of instruments including piano and guitar. James Blunt recorded his first studio album entitled Back to Bedlam in 2003. James Blunt had little success due to his lack of experience and approach to the audience; however, in 2004, due to concert support slots from Elton John and Lloyd Cole, James Blunt found the success he was looking for. James Blunt first two singles “High” and “Wisemen” did not find much success; however, James Blunt third single “Your Beautiful” was his breakthrough hit. The song debuted at number 12 on the UK charts and rose to the number 1 spot just six weeks later. The song later made its debut in the US in the summer of 2005. It eventually climbed to number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making James Blunt the first British artist to top the American singles chart in nearly a decade. James Blunt made many appearances such as The Oprah Winfrey Show and Saturday Night Live to promote his album, and eventually sold 11 million copies and was certified 2 times platinum. James Blunt second album and most recent is entitled All the Lost Souls. Hit singles from this album include “1973”, “Same Mistake”, “Carry You Home”, and “I Really Want You”.
